Harold Ford Jr., the not-yet-a-candidate who may challenge Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), has apparently been tweeting without the knowledge of his staff.
A reporter for City Hall News yesterday asked Ford’s spokeswoman, Tammy Sun, if the @HFord2 handle belonged to Ford.
“What Twitter feed? He is not tweeting,” Sun wrote. “We are not involved at all with that. … Don’t know who is doing it. Could just be a fan.”
Asked repeatedly if the campaign would try to shut down the Twitter page, Sun eventually corrected herself and said Ford had, indeed been tweeting.
“@tammysun will now be following @hford2,” she wrote in an email.
Adding one more meta twist, TPM stumbled on the story when Sun tweeted about it today.
The questions were for a story about how Ford is self-funding his pre-campaign. Sun said she could not say how much he’s spent so far.
Recently, Sun told reporters that Ford had never filed a New York State tax return before. She eventually had to correct herself — Ford had filed the returns.
