The former chief speechwriter for George W. Bush and current conservative pundit told FoxNews today that the health care reform plan will “push elderly people into hospice instead of life extending treatments.”

When asked if there’s been “fear-mongering” in the reform debate, and if people have been getting accurate information about the possible legislation, Marc Thiessen responded:

The fact of the matter is, this plan is designed to get savings out of Medicare in order to fund health care – for a national health care plan. How do you get savings out of Medicare? You deny coverage. You push elderly people into hospice instead of life extending treatments. You create a panel … which is empowered to ration care to get savings out of Medicare…. These are real concerns.

Thiessen also called town hall disrupters part of a “popular uprising” against a government trying to take over and “basically socialize” health care.
