FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Tactical officers have surrounded a home in the St. Louis County town of Ferguson following reports of a shooting apparently involving two brothers.

Officers responded to the home Tuesday afternoon. Ferguson police say a man shot his brother in the head and barricaded himself inside a home. Police say the victim was alert when he was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Officers in tactical gear were called to the home, prompting a standoff.

The home is in a residential area of Ferguson. The St. Louis suburb has been at the center of attention since August, when 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was black, was fatally shot by a white Ferguson police officer.

A middle school and an elementary school near the home were on lockdown during the standoff.
