Hiram Monserrate’s former chief of staff, Wayne Mahlke, was arrested this week for failing to obey a police officer after reportedly yelling at her, “Why don’t you do your job, you fat bitch?”

Monserrate, of course, is a former New York state senator who was expelled earlier this year after being convicted for assaulting his girlfriend.

Mahlke was arraigned Monday night on charges of “second-degree criminal
possession of a forged instrument, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct and several violations of the vehicle and traffic law,” according to a statement by the Queens District Attorney.

Apparently, police Officer Denise McDonald was on foot in Queens, when Mahlke saw her and yelled out his window, “Why don’t you do your job, you fat bitch?”

He then attempted to drive away. McDonald approached his car, and when she asked for his driver’s license, he allegedly tried to show her a New York state senate official business plaque and a laminated copy of a police placard. He said:

“You don’t know who I am. I’m higher ranking than you. I work for Mayor Bloomberg.”

When asked again for his license, Mahlke could only produce a learner’s permit.

Mahlke does not work for Bloomberg, and apparently admitted to McDonald at the time of his arrest that he is unemployed.

Mahlke could face up to seven years in prison if convicted.
