Former CDC Director Tom Frieden, who was arrested Friday on the basis of an alleged incident where he forcibly touched a woman in his Brooklyn home in October 2017, says that the accusation “does not reflect” who he is, according to the Associated Press.

The victim is reportedly a 55-year-old woman who is accusing Frienden of grabbing her behind without her consent. He has been charged with “forcible touching, sex abuse and harassment,” according to the AP.

A statement was reportedly released on his behalf. “The allegation does not reflect Dr. Frieden’s public or private behavior or his values over a lifetime of service to improve health around the world,” said a statement issued on his behalf.

Per AP, police have been conducting an investigation since the woman reported the crime, and now have Frieden in custody awaiting a court appearance on Friday.
