Since Standard & Poor’s downgraded the United States’ credit rating, Republicans have come out in force to label it “Obama’s downgrade.”
So Jon Stewart last night called in The Daily Show‘s “senior black correspondent” Larry Wilmore to see what he makes of it.
“Look, now, you know Republicans have been looking for the perfect black stereotype to bring down Obama’s presidentcy for a while,” Wilmore said. “They keep pointing out how much he likes basketball, they call his 50th birthday party a ‘hip-hop barbeque.’ What is that? And now a credit problem?”
So Stewart asked if Obama needs to push back and get ahead of the stereotypes.
“It’s too late, Jon,” Wilmore said. “We’re in the red. Now it’s time to go blacker.”
