Things apparently got a little heated between MSNBC host Ed Schultz and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. Over the weekend, Schultz said he told Gibbs that he was “full of sh*t” and “losing your base.”

At the “Blue State Bash” in Minnesota over the weekend, Schultz described a swearing match that erupted between him and Gibbs:

I told him he was full of sh*t, is what I told him. I mean I did. And then he gave me the Dick Cheney f-bomb the same way Senator Leahy got it on the Senate floor.

Schultz also said that he “told Robert Gibbs, I said ‘And I’m sorry you’re swearing at me, but I’m just trying to help you out. I’m telling you you’re losing your base. Do you understand that you’re losing your base?'”

It’s not totally clear when this expletive-laced exchange between Schultz and Gibbs took place.

Here’s the video (the Gibbs comments begin at around the 4:20 mark):

Late Update: Gibbs says Schultz is misleading viewers to “get people to watch his show.”
