Stephen Colbert had some fun with Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) Monday night over Kyl’s argument that his hyperbolic claim about Planned Parenthood was never intended to be taken as fact.

In the heated budget debate last week, Kyl erroneously claimed on the Senate floor that 90% of Planned Parenthood’s services are abortions; the real number is more like 3%. Rather than admit a mistake, Kyl defended that claim by saying it was, “not intended to be a factual statement.”

“Kyl just rounded up to the nearest 90,” Colbert explained.

“You can’t call him out for being wrong when he never intended to be right,” he added.

Colbert then made a few of his own unbelievable statements about Kyl — such as that the Senator has a vestigial tail in an unusual place — following each with a disclaimer that they should not be taken as facts. And as of Tuesday morning, Colbert had taken the ribbing to his twitter account, where he’s been frequently posting such non-factual gems as, “Carly Simon wrote that song about Jon Kyl,” and, “Jon Kyl calls the underside of his Senate seat: ‘The Booger Graveyard.'”
