Stephen Colbert on Monday lampooned Tim Pawlenty’s endorsement of Mitt Romney for president, calling it a “huge” win for the former Massachusetts governor.
“Just weeks ago these two men were bitter rivals,” Colbert said, “opposite in every way. And look at them now, it’s like Miracle Whip endorsing mayonnaise.”
Pawlenty has also signed on to be Romney’s national campaign co-chair, a move Colbert hopes won’t take detract from Pawlenty’s other job as “assistant manager of the Route 23 Kinkos.”
Romney also invited Pawlenty as his “plus one” at last night’s Republican debate.
“Plus one,” Colbert said, “also the number of votes (Pawlenty’s) endorsement has brought to the Romney campaign.”
