Stephen Colbert jokingly adopted some conservative talking points Tuesday night, knocking Obama for taking too much credit for bin Laden’s death, and lauding President Bush for really getting the job done.
Specifically, Colbert mocked Rush Limbaugh for his claim that Obama was taking too much credit for bin Laden’s death.
“Rush is right,” Colbert said. “The President is a credit hog, which is deeply offensive to Rush and other hog-Americans.”
Colbert also picked up on Limbaugh’s argument that Obama only went after bin Laden to boost his poll numbers ahead of 2012.
“This man is so desperate for a bump in the polls to push his agenda that he took the easy road of killing the world’s most wanted man,” Colbert said.
And Colbert leapt on the bandwagon of GOPers who have said Bush deserves much of the credit for bin Laden’s death. He even said it should be a valid claim going forward with other things Obama’s accomplishes too.
“When is Obama going to kill Gaddafi?” Colbert asked. “It’s about time Bush got credit for that too.”
