Former CIA Director John Brennan, one of many critics of President Donald Trump to whom mailed pipe bombs were addressed in recent days, told Trump on Thursday to “stop blaming others” and that “your critics will not be intimidated into silence.”

He was responding to a tweet from Trump in which the President blamed “purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media” for the “Anger” in society.

During a live interview Wednesday, Brennan reacted to Trump’s assertion that Americans “have to come together” to send a message denouncing political violence.

“I think it’s very important for an individual who is in the Oval Office today to say exactly that,” Brennan responded. “That we need to come together as a country. We need to unite. We may have differences, but this should be no reason whatsoever to resort to these types of acts of intimidation and potentially violence.”
