Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has some advice for embattled New York Gov. David Paterson: don’t let the Man push you aside.

Paterson, who decided not to run for a full term last week after the New York Times reported on alleged interference in a top aide’s domestic violence case, is facing calls from some fellow Democrats to resign.

But Blago, interviewed over the weekend by Neil Cavuto on Fox Business, is having none of it.

“If you believe in the things you’re doing for people, then keep fighting. Don’t let these powerful people push you aside,” said Blagojevich, who was convicted of an article of impeachment and removed from office last year amid an abuse of power scandal.

Blagojevich added: “I think the American people are looking for people who are willing to stand up to the power, are willing to fight back on behalf of the people, and maybe Governor Paterson could be a champion for them if, in fact, he has got right on his side.”

Blagojevich’s trial on corruption charges is scheduled to start in June.
