The “Michele Bachmann For Congress” office has distributed the following email:

My Dear Friends,

Running for president was one of the greatest honors of my life.

I ran because I believe the times we live in are so threatening to our economic survival, that 2012 is our last chance to change course if we want to remain as the world’s leading economic and military superpower. I did not run for president for my own personal benefit, or to climb the political ladder; I ran because someone needed to stand up for our beliefs and voice our sentiments.

In deciding to run, I believed someone needed to talk about our shared values and conservative ideals; to stand up for our voice and belief in the America we grew up in and love; and to fight for our children and grandchildren’s future. We ran an honest campaign and I will always be proud of the work we did and the history we made. Together, with your support, our campaign changed the focus of this presidential election.

We talked about the important issues at hand in 2012: our nearly insurmountable debt, the absolute need to repeal Obamacare, and the necessity of eliminating Dodd-Frank. Frankly, my friends, had I not been a part of those debates, we might not have our voice heard loud and strong on those issues!

As my campaign traveled around the country, I saw the very best in America and our people. From diners, to community centers, to small businesses, I witnessed first-hand that our nation’s best days can still be ahead of us, and the work we did over the past six months can help us turn this nation around. That’s why I’m writing to you today.

With your help and support, I am announcing I will seek re-election to Congress in Minnesota.

I am more determined than ever that President Obama be defeated and that we overturn the devastating legislation that has been forced upon the American people. I hope you will stand with me and support my campaign today by making a generous contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more today.

The conservative tide continues to flow across the country, and our campaign was just the beginning. I came out of the election with a renewed pride for our country knowing America and Americans are on the right track to restore our nation. I am proud as never before in the indomitable fighting spirit of the people I met every day on the campaign trail.

I will not stop fighting for our conservative causes. I ran because I believed our issues needed to be talked about and I am glad that the issues we brought to the debate have been at the center of the discussion. To send a strong message to Washington and the Democrats that you agree our fight is far from over please make a donation to my campaign today.

The words I spoke in my announcement for president in Waterloo, Iowa still hold true today:

“Americans have always confronted challenges. Ours is a history marked by struggles as well as prosperity. My early days were difficult as they were for many Americans, especially during the time when my mother struggled to raise us after her divorce. But we made our own way. We depended on our neighbors and ourselves and not our government for help. We trusted in God and our neighbors and not in Government.”

“Americans still have that same spirit. But government keeps trying to erase it because government thinks it knows better–that government can create jobs, and make a better life for all of us, even make us healthier! But that’s NOT the case. We have to recapture our founders’ vision of a constitutionally conservative government if we are to secure the promise of the future.”

As I embark on this new chapter, I hope you will stand with me and support this decision I have made. Your generosity today will ensure our voice is heard in Washington and around the country for the years to come.

You can count on me to always stand up for our values and never waver from the Founding Fathers’ vision for the government. We cannot expect our posterity to pay for the excessive spending of our generation just because President Obama and his Democrat allies in Congress refuse to provide any sort of fiscal leadership.

As we look towards the future, I cannot thank you enough for your continued support and friendship.

Sincerely,

Michele Bachmann

PS. I am looking forward to the days ahead and know as Americans, we can restore our economy and return America to greatness. I am glad to have you by my side as we begin this campaign. Please follow this secure link to make a donation of $25, $35, $50 or more.
