Von Brunn Facing Murder Charge In Holocaust Museum Shooting
James von Brunn is being charged with murder in the fatal shooting of U.S. Holocaust Museum guard Stephen Tyrone Johns Wednesday.
Von Brunn is also being charged with killing in the course of possessing a firearm in a federal facility. Authorities are looking at potential civil rights and hate crimes charges as well.
Search warrants have been executed at von Brunn's residence and his car, in which numerous documents, including "names, addresses," were found, D.C. FBI Official Joseph Persichini said at a press conference.
The FBI has exhausted all leads that refer to any potential threat, Persichini said.
The bureau did not have an open investigation on von Brunn, who has a long record of white supremacist and anti-semitic writings, but it was aware of him.
Persichini said the FBI's goal "is to develop a complete time line" of von Brunn's actions and appealed to anyone with information about von Brunn to come forward.
Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty expressed his condolences for the family of Stephen Jones.
