Two more New Orleans police officers have pleaded not guilty to charges that they conspired to cover up the alleged police shootings of unarmed civilians on the Danziger Bridge in the days after Hurricane Katrina.
Archie Kaufman and Gerard Dugue were charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice.
They and four other current and former officers were charged this month in connection with the 2005 killings. The four other officers have been accused of shooting unarmed civilians, killing two and wounding four, and then covering it up.
Kaufman and Dugue were the investigators in the original case, and are accused of falsifying reports and false prosecution.
Another former officer, Robert Faulcon, was taken into federal custody in New Orleans today. Faulcon, accused of killing a man with severe mental disabilities, was arrested in Texas. He has not yet entered a plea.
The other three officers have pleaded not guilty.
