A gunman killed two police officers and shot a U.S. Marshal this morning while they were serving a search warrant in St. Petersburg, Florida, according to Tampa Bay Online.

St. Petersburg Police Chief Chuck Harmon told reporters that the gunman was still inside the house and shooting at officers.

It is the second shooting involving the U.S. Marshals in Florida in as many weeks. Last week, two police officers in Miami who were working on a U.S. Marshals task force were killed while serving a warrant. Their funeral is being held today, Reuters reported.

Late Update: Reuters reports that as of 11:40 a.m. the status of the gunman, who is a known sex offender, was unclear. A spokesman said that negotiators were trying to get him to surrender but not getting any response.

TampaBayOnline.com reports that the shooter is Hydra Lacy Jr., the brother of professional boxer Jeff Lacy. The website reported that state records show Hydra Lacy has been an absconded sexual offender since June 30. He was not residing at the last known address listed on the registry.

His mugshot is embedded below.
