The campaign manager for former Connecticut GOP congressman Chris Shays was arrested this morning and charged with embezzling campaign money.

Federal prosecutors allege that Michael Sohn, 34, stole about $250,000 over four years, and that he filed false campaign reports and tax offenses.

A probe by the Shays campaign reportedly found that Sohn had spent the money on Red Sox tickets, limousine travel, and a donation to his synagogue.

Sohn is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport today.

Shays, a moderate Republican, lost his seat last fall to Democrat Jim Hines. He was the last remaining New England Republican in the House.
