The ex-fiance of the leader of the Hutaree Christian militia tells the AP that the group harbored delusions of grandeur to the point that they created “a big map on a room in their house of their own country and their own names of their countries and cities and stuff.”
Andrea Harsh, who was engaged to alleged Hutaree leader David Stone, described the map as “very extensive.”
More details continue to dribble out about the often troubled lives of the alleged members of the Christian militia, who are charged in Michigan for an alleged plot to kill police.
A police report on Thomas Piatek dug up by the Post Tribune of Northwest Indiana, shows that a woman he was dating went to police after he scared her with a gun. The alleged incident occurred when they were driving in the truck of Piatek:
Piatek then started putting bullets into the gun, and as he did so, he started talking.
“He told me if I ever left him, he would kill me,” she said.
Piatek later apologized, saying he didn’t know what had gotten into him, the woman said, but she still felt uncomfortable.
Authorities have said they found 46 guns, a sword, a crossbow, smoke grenades, and militia DVDs in Piatek’s Indiana home.
