Two Miami Dade Police Department officers on a U.S. Marshals task force have been shot and killed in Miami, a federal law enforcement official tells TPM.
The two officers with the Metro Dade Police Department were serving on a U.S. Marshals Task Force in the area. A third task force officer has been taken to the hospital in stable condition, the law enforcement official said. The suspect in the shootings was shot and killed by police, the official said.
Officers had been on an undercover operation at the time of the shootings, the Miami Herald reported.
Late Update: The federal law enforcement officer said he’s received new information indicating just one police officer had been killed. He also said that the task force was serving a warrant at the time of the shooting and was dressed in U.S. Marshals gear (indicating the operation was not undercover, as other reports originally indicated).
