In a hearing today, the lawyer for Wisconsin District Attorney Kenneth Kratz said that the DA will step down from his post before October 8, when there is another hearing scheduled to begin removal proceedings.
Kratz’s announcement follows allegations by at least five women who say he behaved inappropriately as a county DA, and Kratz’s own admission that he sent one domestic abuse victim sexually suggestive texts while he was handling her case.
Proceedings against Kratz began today in a court hearing, in which attorney Robert Craanen said Kratz intends to resign before the next scheduled court date. Kratz has previously refused to resign his post, but did go on medical leave last week following the initial allegations.
Since then, at least four other women have come forward and accused him of behaving inappropriately. One woman accused Kratz of offering to take her on a date to an autopsy. Most recently, another has reportedly alleged that Kratz offered to help her with her victim statement for a domestic abuse case in exchange for sex.
