Jon Stewart: VA Ultrasound Bill Like A Vaginal TSA Pat-Down

Views

Jon Stewart on Tuesday returned to discussing the “punanny state,” this time looking at a Virginia bill that would force women to have a transvaginal ultrasound before getting an abortion.“I don’t really have a joke here,” Stewart said, after explaining the procedure. But the one upside, he said, is women don’t have to look at the ultrasound image. Hooray!

“During the entire wand forcibly inserted in your most private area experience, you still have complete and total control over what direction your head is turned,” he said. “So just set your iPod to shuffle, flip through a copy of Vanity Fair and try to ignore the fact that you’re being handled like a human popsicle.”

Critics call the measure intrusive and “akin to rape.” What else do supporters think is government intrusion, Stewart wondered. A TSA pat-down, perhaps.

“Women might consider this a TSA pat-down inside their vagina,” Stewart said.
