Back in early June, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with a bit of fanfare, requested that the House “Statement of Disbursements” — a quarterly report of all receipts and expenditures for House members and committees — be posted online.

Nearly six months later, the SOD for the third quarter has been posted.

If you have the time and stomach to look through a 3,404 page document that contains items like “Electronics Technician (Overtime): $186.79,” it’s here. Little effort has apparently been made to create a document that’s easily search-able for reporters, watchdog groups, or interested on members of the public. Indeed, the move, though a step in the right direction, appears to represent close to the bare minimum that could have been done.

Meanwhile, Sen. Russ Feingold announced in a press release that last month he returned nearly $270,000 of his office budget to the Treasury, and called today for cuts to Congressional office budgets.
