Although Abdul Ra’ouf Omar Mohammed Abu al-Qassim is desperate to be free, he is terrified of returning to Yemen, where he expects to be promptly tortured and killed. National Guard units in over thirty states have said that they now have 60% or less of their authorized equipment, as large portions of supplies have been sent to Iraq and Afghanistan. (USA TODAY)

Hmong Americans are protesting the arrest of Vang Pao, a military leader during the Vietnam War and head of the CIA-backed Secret Army. Pao was arrested last week for conspiring to overthrow the Laotian government. (NY Times)
