Groner had ruled last month that Kilpatrick had violated his probation. Before the probation issue ever came up, the ex-mayor had served 99 days in prison after pleading guilty to obstruction of justice and admitting he lied under oath, in part to conceal an extra-marital affair with a top aide.
Since then, the ex-mayor has been slow to pay $1 million in restitution to the city of Detroit -- required as part of a 2008 settlement. But Kilpatrick had reportedly been making monthly payments of just $3,000 while he and his wife had other assets, lived in a rented mansion and drove high-end SUVs.
"Most compelling is that you lied to this court, continue to lie, after you pleaded guilty to lying," Groner said today.
