The House ethics committee announced today it is investigating “allegations” about Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) but does not detail the charges. According to Politico, Massa has been accused of making unwanted advances toward a male staffer.

Yesterday, when he announced he would not seek reelection after a cancer scare, Massa also called the reports of allegations against him “unsubstantiated without fact or backing.” And he added the allegations “are a symptom of what’s wrong with this city.”

Later Wednesday, Massa said, “The allegations are totally false. I’m a salty old sailor. That’s that.”

TPMDC has more on congressional reaction to the reported allegations against Massa.
