George Jakubec, who admitted to possessing explosives and bomb-making materials in his San Diego County home, was sentenced Monday to 30 years in prison.
Jakubec pleaded guilty in March to two counts of armed robbery, which was part of his plea agreement with officials, who agreed to drop the five counts against him if he admitted to having the explosives in his home.
Jakubec received the maximum sentence Monday, and was ordered to pay $600,000 in restitution to the owner of his home, which authorities burned down because it was too filled with explosives to enter.
Last November, San Diego County law enforcement investigated Jakubec’s home, which they said had at least nine pounds of explosives, in what Deputy District Attorney Terri Perez described as the “largest quantity of this type of homemade explosives found in one location in the history of the United States.”
