Election officials in Wisconsin confirmed at a meeting Tuesday that they are on track to finish the review of the remaining recall petitions against Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, by the deadline of March 30.
At a meeting of the state Government Accountability Board, which oversees elections in the state, GAB staff said that the review for potential duplicates in the Walker-recall petitions should be completed later today. The review of the Kleefisch-recall petitions began yesterday, which will present a tight deadline, but the staff should be prepared to present at the board’s special meeting on March 30.
The meeting Tuesday was regularly scheduled, in order to address business heading into the state’s local elections in April.
Assuming that final certification of the recalls will happen on March 30, the recalls against Walker, Kleefisch, and four Republican state senators will be set for May 8 and primaries and a June 5 general election.
