The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has a new TV ad in the effort to recall Gov. Scott Walker, with the spot focusing on the investigation of Walker’s former aides from his time as Milwaukee County Executive — and also focusing on Richard Nixon.

The ad compares the “John Doe” investigation to Watergate, with two sections of the screen showing contemporary news coverage of Walker and his ex-aides on the one side, and to Watergate-era news clips on the other. The ad ends with Sen. Howard Baker’s (R-TN) famous question in the Senate Watergate hearings, “What did the president know, and when did he first know it?” — then followed by the same line being repeated by MSNBC host Ed Schultz, referring to Walker.

Meanwhile, on the lower part of the screen, text of Walker’s name and the word “Watergate” converge to form a new slogan: “Walkergate.”
