White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Monday pushed back against scrutiny directed at President Barack Obama’s scheduled address before “Organizing for Action,” arguing that the group is no different than organizations such as the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

Carney said that Obama’s planned speech before the OFA, born out of the President’s campaign operation, is comparable to interacting with other Democratic-affiliated groups.

“The President speaks about his policy agenda to a variety of groups,” Carney said during the afternoon press briefing, mentioning the DCCC, the DNC and the DSCC by name.

Earlier in the briefing, Carney contended that OFA shouldn’t be misrepresented as partisan because it is promoting “[policies] that have had bipartisan support in the past.”
