White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest on Thursday threw cold water on the prospect of President Barack Obama accepting a nomination to the nation’s highest court after he leaves the White House.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was asked Tuesday at a town hall event whether she would consider appointing Obama to the Supreme Court. She said it was a “great idea,” MSNBC reported.
But Earnest shut down that possibility Thursday during his daily press briefing.
“My guess is that his aspirations for his post-presidency extend beyond a Supreme Court appointment,” Earnest said.
