White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said the photo Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz snapped with President Barack Obama last week at the White House could ruin all future presidential selfies.

Appearing Sunday on CBS’ “Face The Nation,” Pfeiffer suggested the White House wasn’t happy to learn that Ortiz had just inked a deal to be a “social media insider” for Samsung.

“Well, [Obama] obviously didn’t know anything about Samsung’s connection to this,” he said. “And perhaps maybe this will be the end of all selfies.”

Pfeiffer said it presents a problem for the White House whenever someone tries to use the President’s likeness for commercial promotion.

“We’ve had conversations with Samsung about this and expressed our concerns,” he said.

Ortiz told the Boston Globe that the photo “just happened” organically and “had nothing to do with no deals.”
