The White House has launched a new official mobile website — one optimized for the smaller screens of mobile devices, that is — as well as new iPhone and Android apps, O’Reilly Radar reported on Tuesday. The new “version 2.0” apps include a “new, updated design, on screen alerts for live events with President Obama and administraiton officials,” a new search function and new higher res photos, in addition to bug fixes.

Users can watch live video conferences featuring the President and Press Secretary using the apps.

The White House has also released the source code for the apps on the community coding repository GitHub, which O’Reilly states is a “new higher water mark for open source in government.”

The White House posted the following video ad for the new apps on its YouTube channel
