White House Issues Veto Threat Over GOP Bill Replacing Sequester

Just minutes after House Republicans narrowly passed a bill on Thursday that would replace the previously agreed upon sequester with deep cuts to other government agencies, the White House issued a veto threat, arguing that the Spending Reduction Act would unfairly targed middle class families and the poor.

“The President has made clear that the Congress can and must act to avoid the sweeping impacts of sequestration by passing a balanced deficit reduction package,” reads a statement from the Office of Management and Budget.
