White House Credits McCain For Easing Filibuster Standoff

White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to delve into the tentative agreement struck by senators to confirm pending nominees without the use of the nuclear option to change the Senate rules.

“The White House was not involved in negotiating,” Carney told reporters Tuesday at his daily briefing.

He said Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) — who led the effort to find a resolution — deserves “significant credit for his efforts.”
