DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) said Monday that gun control legislation will ultimately be tougher to pass than immigration reform in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, arguing that GOP congressmembers are afraid of the gun lobby.

“I think clearly they’re both hard, but I think guns is going to be harder than immigration reform,” Wasserman Schultz said on MSNBC. “The Republicans are staring in the face of 71 percent of Hispanic Americans that voted for Democrats and President Obama. This is a very, very important political issue to them. Hopefully this will spur them on. But guns is tougher. Because I think they’re frightened of the gun manufacturers and the NRA?”
