A group of Republican lawmakers in Washington’s state House are backing a bill that would allocate their state’s electoral votes by Congressional district, mimicking similar proposals in states like Virginia and Pennsylvania.

“A lot of voters today feel disenfranchised and feel like their vote doesn’t count,” Rep. Matt Shea (R), who sponsored the bill, told the Seattle Times.

The bill’s chances of passage (or even a vote) are virtually nonexistent as Democrats control both the House and governor’s office in Washington.
