Rep. Wally Herger (R-CA), the chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means subcommittee on health, will not seek reelection in 2012, according to reports.
The news was first revealed Tuesday morning by FlashReport, a California blog, and confirmed by The Washington Post.
Herger, 66, has held conservative district since 1987, and would have been a major player in the GOP’s effort to repeal the health care reform law.
