The Washington Post is adding an editor’s note to explain an update to its story on Mitt Romney’s bullying at prep school, the paper’s communications director told TPM.

“We should have been clearer about it and we are adding an Editor’s note to the story to explain the change,” Kris Coratti said in an email.

Right-wing blogs jumped on the Post’s story after the online version was updated. Here are the paragraphs in question, posted by Big Journalism:

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident. [emphasis added]

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and said he has been “disturbed” by the Lauber incident since hearing about it several weeks ago, before being contacted by The Washington Post. “But I was not the brunt of any of his pranks.” [emphasis added]

The update came after White told ABC News that he didn’t witness the bullying incident.
