Freshman Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) praised ex-Rep. Barney Frank, who has asked to temporarily fill Sen. John Kerry’s seat until a special election is held in June, saying he would be an “extraordinary” senator, the Boston Herald reports.
At a celebration of her own ascension to the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts Saturday, Warren praised Frank has “my tutor, my guide” and a “champion” of consumer protection.
“Congressman Frank understands the workings of financial markets in ways that are unmatched,” she said to reporters after the event. “If he is appointed to be a senator, I have no doubt he will be extraordinary.”
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D), who was on stage with Warren at the event, has yet to appoint an interim senator.
