Scott Brown upped the ante in a back-and-forth with rival Elizabeth Warren over tax returns when he informed Warren on Tuesday that he would release six years of tax returns on Friday, reports the Boston Globe.

Before the announcement, Warren had agreed to release two years of tax returns if Brown did the same. She contended that period was appropriate because it covered her candidacy, and the time Warren worked for the Obama administration, and also included Brown’s time in the Senate. Warren indicated last week that she was open to releasing more than two years’ worth.

Brown’s campaign echoes President Obama’s attack on Mitt Romney as both attempt to highlight the personal wealth of their opponent. The Massachusetts GOP has also attacked Warren for not opting to pay a higher tax rate, which is available to Massachusetts taxpayers who feel they should pay more taxes.
