Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) in August attributed the strength of the ISIS in Iraq and Syria to the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.

“I think today with the sadness of what’s happening in Iraq, that if we had not removed Saddam Hussein — who was an evil man — we would not have the chaos we have now,” Jones said at a Liberty Torch PAC dinner, according to video obtained by Buzzfeed.

He also lamented that President Obama “bypassed the constitution and bombed Libya.”

“We have created many of our foreign problems today by bad foreign policy,” Jones said.

Jones has spoken out against the Iraq War before, even though he initially voted to authorize military force there in 2003. Last year, he blasted former Vice President Dick Cheney for his role in orchestrating the invasion of Iraq.

“Lyndon Johnson’s probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney,” Jones said.
