An article published in Politico on Friday morning critical of W.H. Chief of Staff Bill Daley has elicited a strong response from the administration. ‘Bill Daley is an excellent chief of staff’ says spokesman Jay Carney. ‘He brings enormous experience to the job. I would simply say, he took over the job at a pretty critical and remarkable time, if you think about the changes that came with the midterm elections.’

The article reported sources as questioning whether Daley was a competent enough manager to bring focus to the administration and guide the president through a difficult election year. It also points out his relative inexperience and lack of Capitol HIll connections in comparison to his predecessor, Rahm Emanuel.
