U.S. Attorney for Colorado John Walsh said Wednesday at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on an assault weapons ban that a high-capacity magazine coupled with an assault rifle is especially dangerous.
“The dangerousness of a 100-round clip is hard to deny,” Walsh said.
Walsh was referring to the Aurora, Colo. movie theater massacre, where 12 people died. James Holmes, the suspect in the shooting, reportedly used a 100-round drum magazine. Walsh said 10 of the victims at the theater died of wounds from an assault weapon.
