U.S. Attorney for Colorado John Walsh on Wednesday at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing disputed Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-TX) assertion that the Department of Justice’s enforcement of current gun laws is “abysmal.”

“I could not disagree more strongly that the Department of Justice is not aggressively enforcing existing firearms laws,” Walsh said. He said the DOJ spends an enormous amount of time, including sleepless nights, enforcing current laws.
