Two Polls Show Tight Senate Race In Indiana

Two new polls of the Indiana Senate race show a dead between Republican state Treasurer Richard Mourdock and Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly.

One survey by Democratic pollster Garin Hart Yang, commissioned by Majority PAC, shows Donnelly at 45 percent, compared to Mourdock with 43 percent. The survey of 601 likely voters was conducted from August 9-12, and has a 4 percent margin of error.

The other poll from Market Research Insight, commissioned by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, gives Mourdock the two-point edge: Mourdock 41 percent, Donnelly 39 percent. The survey of 600 likely voters was conducted from August 6-9, and has a 4 percent margin of error.

The PollTracker Average currently gives Donnelly 43 percent, and Mourdock 42.3 percent.
