Twitter on Monday early evening posted a message on its service status blog acknowledging disruptions for some users.

“Some users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue.”

The update came just hours after Twitter posted new statistics on how many users were tweeting during Monday’s Presidential inauguration ceremony, a total 1.1 million, up from less than 5,000 tweets during President Obama’s first inauguration in 2009.
