Microblogging website Twitter suffered a series of repeated outages on Thursday beginning around noon Eastern time and lasting for over an hour, according to tracking website Pingdom. Just when Twitter seemed to have been restored around quarter to 2 pm ET, the website crashed again and intermittent access followed. Twitter did not provide a reason for the outage, but instead referred inquiries to its status page, where the company wrote “The issue is on-going and engineers are working to resolve it.”
Twitter and web users debated whether the outages were good or bad for productivity.
