Twitter on Tuesday evening announced on its blog it had acquired Bluefin Labs, a “social TV analytics” company, for an undisclosed sum. The Business Insider first reported on the acquisition on Monday. Twitter said the move was an effort to expand upon its partnership with ratings company Nielsen, announced in December 2010. Presumably, Blueflin will help Twitter play measure Twitter conversations about and during TV programs.
As Twitter chief operating officer Ali Rowghani said in a blog post: “We look forward to working with Bluefin and our partners in the television industry to make the experience of Twitter and television even better.”
