Crashlytics, a company dedicated to providing tools and reports on mobile application session crashes, on Monday announced it had been acquired by Twitter for an undisclosed sum. Crashlytics currently provides crash reports for Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and teases an Android version coming soon. The company will continue to offer separate products for mobile apps developers under Twitter’s wing, as co-founders Jeff Seibert and Wayne Chang wrote in a blog post about the news.
“With today’s announcement, much will remain the same. Development of Crashlytics will continue unabated and we remain dedicated to working with all of our customers – current and new, big and small – to deliver the key app performance insights they need.”
The move marks Twitter’s latest attempt to bolster its mobile offerings, coming just days after Twitter launched video-sharing iPhone and iPod Touch app Vine, the fruit of another earlier acquisition.
