Reuters reports that Turkey has scrambled its fighter jets for the third day in a row, citing precautionary measures as Syrian helicopters once more approached the Syrian-Turkish border. The announcement comes after Syrian President Bashir al-Assad expressed regret over shooting down a Turkish plane that had crossed into Syrian airspace.

A Syrian general and 84 soldiers reportedly defected to Turkey on Monday, and shelling has continued in numerous sites across the country.
